Coastal Community Leaders Programme for local residents of North Anglesey
Feb–Apr 2024
The Coastal Community Leaders programme in North Anglesey supported local residents to develop skills in leadership, project design, environmental understanding, and community action. Through a series of workshops and mentoring sessions, participants explored how to turn local concerns and ideas into practical projects connected to the marine environment.
The programme introduced participants to topics including community organising, project planning, funding pathways, and enterprise development, while also building confidence in responding creatively to local ecological and social challenges. Participants connected with local organisations, artists, and environmental practitioners including Project Seagrass, Ness Owen, North Wales Wildlife Trust, the Wild Oyster Project, and campaigners from Save Penrhos.
Held over five half-day workshops at Ucheldre Community Centre in Holyhead, the programme brought together people from a wide range of backgrounds, helping to strengthen local networks and support community-led innovation in relation to coastal futures.
